PORCH BENCH (working title) - Curved Steel with Hard Maple

After recently building a console table using my tubing roller, I wanted to try a different project with a larger diameter tubing. At my own home we needed a bench on our porch where I can take off or put on my dirty work shoes. This was the perfect opportunity to design a new piece of furniture with curved metal. I used 2'“x4” steel rectangular tube for the legs, 2” diameter round tube for the large curve, and 5/16” solid steel rod for the thin accent curve and welded everything together (followed by some tedious grinding). The color is a terra-cotta colored spray paint from Montana Gold although I would prefer to have these powder coated in the future. All the tubing ends are plugged with hard maple and the seat is hard maple with a concave shape, achieved by using a custom jig. The slot in the bench seat was intended to simply be a window to see the color below. (At the time of these photographs, the maple still needs to be sanded and have finish applied. New photos will be updated shortly)

If you’re interested in owning one of these benches for yourself, please contact me for more details!
